Charley’s dad is Dave. Born in Burton Latimer, he was brought up by his grandmother Beatrice, who was a school teacher. He also has a relative who was the chief of police for the investigation into the Great Train Robbery. He went to Henry Gotch School (sometimes!). After leaving school he went into the building trade and now works as a plasterer. During his younger days he often travelled and spent time in Hawaii, Bali, US, Thailand, Africa and Europe. Despite this he’s still a Northamptonshire lad at heart, although he supports Liverpool Football Club (from a distance!). His first wife passed away with a serious illness many years ago, and he has one daughter, Lisa, from the marriage. He met Bash in the mid-1980s, although they did know each other as children. Although he played football as a youngster, he never took up golf until, incredibly, Charley was due to be born. Since then he’s got his handicap down to single figures, although in recent years the amount of golf he plays is limited to very occasionally.
