Kettering Golf Club
Kettering Golf Club was established in 1889 and is the oldest club in
Northamptonshire. It is a pleasant par 69 parkland course. However, do not underestimate how
tough it can be if you try to take it on. Charley joined the club after her dad took her there on ??????????.
The Secretary at the time,
Norman Sandell, thought she was probably a bit to young, but suggested that her dad take her out for a
few holes, whilst he observed her skill level. Charley took one very impressive practice swing on the 1st
tee - a 150 yard par 3 hole - then proceeded to put the ball dead within 2 feet of the hole. The Secretary
immediately handed her dad a joining form and she was made a member that day. She has never looked
back since.
