Probably the best 10 year old golfer in the world...
Charley is the Rose of Hampshire
Date: 25/04/2010
A five under par score of 141 made Charley Hull the victor over the two rounds of the Hampshire Rose order of merit competition at the lovely, but testing, North Hants Golf Club near Fleet. Charley became the youngest winner of this prestigious tournament, equaling the achievement of Justin Rose who won the twin event for the men, the Hampshire Hog, when he also was only fourteen.

On a perfect day for golf Charley led the field of top English women golfers after the morning round with a two under par 71. In her afternoon round she looked likely to break the course record as she stood six under par after 14 holes. Unfortunately, a poor lie, a terrible bounce and a misjudgement meant that she had three consecutive bogeys on the next three holes. However, she raised her game on the long par four final hole with a brave putt to secure a par.

Following her recent win in The Leveret at Formby and a joint second place in the Whittington Ladies Cup she put in yet another gritty and determined performance to leave her nearest rival five shots behind. She certainly deserves and merits her new plus 1.1 handicap. With luck this handicap will now qualify her for entry into the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews in late May.
